After having tried numerous programs to delete a number of folders from one of my drives nothing worked. Even using the Command Line with every command and extension I could think off failed. "I use netapp storage, and a volume was filling up.
I wanted to subdivide it and delete a root directory which had 600GB of data in it.
This would solve several problems for me:
1) the existing volume needed some free space, and
2) subdividing is useful for keeping our netapp volumes below the limit at which we
can use their deduplication technology.
The problem was this 600GB of data was full of incredibly long paths which could not be deleted.
Even after I migrated the data to a new volume, I could not remove the now out of production root-level folder,
and hence could not free up the storage. I could delete bits and pieces, but in the main one cannot
root around 600GB of data looking for problems and solve them one at a time.
Your utility was brilliant - hence I got the site license since we do a lot of fileserver operations
and I am sure it will come in handy in the future."
